"Twilight Zone/Twilight Tone" was the epic club hit for the jazz-pop quartet Manhattan Transfer. Five years after their initial top-40 pop hit in the nostalgic acappella of "Operator", this combination of the theme to the sci-fi show from the early 60s with a deep, moody disco experience that's ten times more spooky than "Thriller" tried to be. The track was their biggest success in the clubs, peaking at #4 on Billboard magazine's Disco/Dance Tracks in 1980, spending over six months on the chart, while making it to #30 on the American pop Hot 100 and #25 on the British singles chart.
